Endless notifications, noise, fast pace, comparison, information overload, doomscrolling and constantly trending content on social media keep the nervous system in a state of activation. Over time this does not just create stress, it reduces our capacity to return to baseline, to balance. That’s what dysregulation really is. When the nervous system stays activated for too long, it does not just feel like stress. It feels like being constantly on edge, even in calm moments. The body struggles to rest fully, the mind keeps racing. Even silence can feel uncomfortable and stillness feels unfamiliar and difficult. There is fatigue without proper recovery, irritability without a clear reason, and frequently a sense of being overwhelmed and mentally cluttered. This is why people can feel anxious even when nothing is wrong. And so reactivity becomes the default.

But this struggle between instability and balance is not new. It has been spoken about for centuries, even if the reasons behind it and its intensity have changed with time.

A shloka in Bhagwat Gita (2.48) says, “समत्वं योग उच्यते” meaning, equanimity is yoga. It points to something deeper, to the ability to remain steady even when life is not steady.

Yoga helps regulate the nervous system. It does not remove the cause of stimulation, it strengthens our ability to stay with it without losing inner balance. Through breath, movement and awareness, it works directly with the nervous system, slowing internal overload and creating space between stimulus and response. Asanas release stored stress. Pranayama and sitting with awareness and breath brings calm, the practice shifts the system out of constant alertness. Gradually, yoga does not just relax the system, it teaches the system, you are safe to come down again. You are safe to sit with yourself. And rebuilds the capacity to rest, to feel safe in silence and stillness and to return to balance again and again.

Constant stimulation is part of our world now, and it cannot always be avoided. But yoga retrains the nervous system to find samatvam inside it.

- Khushi S. Unable to express ourselves. We try many different ways. We discover and even create the worlds we live in through our interaction with symbols such as paintings, sculptures, music, dance and other forms of art and expression. At Raga, a core element of well-being is the ability to pause, see and reflect on art and aesthetics. To think and feel deeply about art.

Some songs are more than a piece of music. They feel like revelations, like invitations into a transcendental or spiritual space we usually forget exists beneath the noise of everyday life. A space where you feel deeply connected to yourself or maybe, where you truly see yourself. The purpose of such songs is not entertainment, they pull you inward.

“Nirgun Galiyan” feels like one of those songs, something to sit with and listen to what's being said. It is a bhajan written by Dharamdas, a disciple of the great poet and saint Kabir Das. In the bhajan, Dharamdas speaks about all that his guru taught him and reveals the idea of a state of being that exists beyond the worldly Bhanwar, the endless whirlwind of attachment, ego, desire and chaos that keeps people trapped within themselves.

Nirgun galiyan saankari, mhari heli

Wahan chadhyo nahi jaaye

Wahan chadhe to piya mile, mhari heli

Aavagaman mit jaaye

Mhari heliye, chalo hamara des.

The song speaks about “nirgun” something beyond form and labels. The path towards it is described as “saankari” narrow. Not physically, but narrow because a person cannot walk it carrying pride, greed, anger, attachment or the constant need to prove themselves. That is why Dharamdas says, “wahan chadhyo nahi jaaye.” It's not easy to walk on this path. But if someone does, they meet their “piya.” Here, “piya” is not just a lover. It is the truth or the Divine, the real self hidden behind worldly identity. And once that meeting happens, “aavagaman mit jaaye” the endless cycle of searching, suffering, craving, becoming, and losing, and the cycle of birth, death, and rebirth, comes to an end. The song keeps repeating, “chalo hamara des,” as if calling the listener back to their original home, not a physical place, but a state where the soul is free from illusion.

Kahan uge, kahan aaste

Mhari heli, kahan ujala hoye

Yahin uge, yahin aaste, mhari heli

Yahin ujala hoye

Mhari heliye, chalo hamara des

Yon to yahi ujala hoye

Mhari heliye, chalo hamara des.

In the above lines it feels like someone is searching for light or truth outside, asking where the truth rises, where it rests or peace exists, “kahan ujala hoye?” And the answer comes back “yahin,” right here. Light is not somewhere far away, peace is not waiting in another world, another city, another person or another life. It's already there, within. The same place where darkness exists is also where light can exist. It points to the point that what you are searching for is already around you and within you you just have to see it, realise it.

Kahaan ko garje, kahaan barse, mhari heli

Kahaan sukha ka hariya hoe

Yahin garje, yahin barse, mhari heli

Yahin sukha ka hariya hoe

Mhari heli vo, chalo hamara des

Yon to lagya bhajan wala baan

Mhari heli vo, chalo hamara des

Then the song asks where the rain falls that can turn dryness(sookha) into green again. The “sookha” is the miserable state of being, sadness, dullness, an exhausted mind or life. Again the answer is “yahin.” Right here. The storm, the suffering, the rain, healing all happen within this life, this body, the human existence. Nothing comes from the outside to fix it, this transformation takes place right here. Then comes “bhajan wala baan” as if devotion, music or yearning for truth have pierced the heart like an arrow to awaken someone and guide them towards their real home.

Nirgun ka bazaar mein, mhari heli

Heero ko hove vyapaar

Sugura maanav to saudo kare, mhari heli

Ee to nugura mool gavaaye

Mhari heli vo, chalo hamara des.

One of the verses speaks about “nirgun ka bazaar.” It gives an impression of a place where only diamonds are traded. But not everyone recognises a diamond. “Sugura maanav” the wise person, understands the value of truth and knows what is worth exchanging their life for. The ignorant person loses the real treasure while running after temporary things. The writer critiques the way people spend their lives chasing image, wealth, power and ego while remaining disconnected from themselves.

Anhad ka maidan mein, mhari heli

Mhara sahib ji ki sej

Haan, kahe Kabir Dharmdas se, mhari heli

‘Na to mare, na boodha hoe’

Mhari heli vo, chalo hamara des.

The final section reaches “anhad ka maidan” , a space beyond the physical world. In Kabir’s poetry, “anhad” is often mentioned, it is the eternal inner sound of existence, something that cannot be heard with the ears, only felt deeply. And there lies “mhara sahib ji ki sej” the resting place of the divine, the “piya”, the true self, it is the place, the “des” of complete surrender, union and peace. Where one reaches by walking on the “Nirgun Galiyan”. Then Kabir says, “na to mare, na boodha hoye” perhaps he meant to say that one comes to the realisation that the truth and soul do not age and do not die. The soul, the real self is eternal and what is eternal exists beyond time and decay. This part feels deeply freeing as if after all the wandering, searching, suffering and learning, one finally reaches a place beyond fear, even beyond the fear of death.

The bhajan ends with “chalo hamara des.” Kabir or Dharamdas are not asking us to go somewhere outside. They are calling us back to our original state, fearless, untouched and free.

Listen to the full song here

Aesthetic Wellbeing Series: Amrita Sher-Gil

At Raga, pausing to reflect on art is essential to wellbeing. We need symbols, works of art that represent life situations, to help us find meaning in our experiences. Through paintings, music, and dance, we discover and shape the worlds we live in.

Continuing our Aesthetic Wellbeing series after a long time, we turn to Amrita Sher-Gil, a pioneer of modern Indian art. Born to a Punjabi Sikh father and a Hungarian mother, Sher-Gil bridged Western oil techniques with Indian subjects. Her work moved away from Parisian academic styles to a language of empathy, melancholy, and vibrant earth tones, capturing what she called the "Indian reality."

Her 1935 work, Group of Three Girls, reflects this shift, depicting the pensive dignity of rural life. It serves as a reminder of how art allows us to see our own life situations as something deeply meaningful.

Explore Further:

Read: Amrita Sher-Gil: A Life by Yashodhara Dalmia.

Listen: The "Amrita Sher-Gil" episode of The Great Women Artists podcast.

Watch: Amrita Sher-Gil: The 1969 documentary Amrita Sher-Gil (Dir. For Chloe, our campus was a place of complete rest, where the calm atmosphere and natural beauty allowed her to step away from the rush of daily life.

Chloe immersed herself in the Raga way of living, finding balance through Ayurvedic massages and the quiet beauty of our gardens. She especially enjoyed the diversity of our healthy cuisine, which offered a fresh and nourishing contrast to the flavors of home.

As Chloe shared, Raga Svara is perfect for both finding peace and discovering yourself. It is in this stillness that we truly reconnect with our center.

We look forward to welcoming her and her family back to our peaceful corner of the world.

Just a small “hello” or “I hope you are well” changes something within. It brings a little warmth, a little life into the moment, like the soul is being acknowledged. It makes you take a pause before you start the conversation.

There’s something about greetings that makes them so important in our daily lives, something very human. The world constantly pushes us to function like machines, efficient, fast, and time saving. I feel greetings bring an ease into our interactions, a sense of connection, and an awareness that we are not just bodies, but individuals with emotions, presence, and energy. They remind us that we are humans, we feel, we notice, we exist equally. The ones we work with, and work for, the ones who cook for us, clean our spaces, take care of our surroundings, stand attentively guarding our gates, no hierarchy, no comparison, just one human meeting another. It’s a very gentle way of saying, I see you.

At Raga Svara, we believe a Namaskāra is not just a greeting, but a moment of surrender. When you bow your head slightly and join your hands, something shifts inside. Our ego softens. For a moment, you let go of roles, identities, and judgments. It feels like you are saying, I honour your soul, no matter who you are or what you do.

For me, greetings feel like an offering at the beginning of any interaction, like I am offering and being offered a little comfort, a little space, a way of saying, you are welcome here.

If we see it not as just a social formality, they are soulful exchanges. They remind us to slow down and meet each other with a sense of kindness and humility in a world that sometimes feels distant.

Khushi S. - Yoga teacher at Raga Svara

Raga Svara’s Holistic Wellness Approach featured in Hindustan Times

We are happy to share that Hindustan Times recently featured an honest look at Raga Svara, exploring how authentic Ayurveda and yoga shape our structured, immersive stay.

Feature Highlights:

Nestled on the outskirts of Rajkot, Raga Svara is described as the place to be if you are "tired of

Raga Svara

We are happy to share that Hindustan Times recently featured an honest look at Raga Svara, exploring how authentic Ayurveda and yoga shape our structured, immersive stay.

Feature Highlights:

Nestled on the outskirts of Rajkot, Raga Svara is described as the place to be if you are "tired of chasing itineraries and actually want to take a pause."

The feature highlights our 30-acre campus where "each corner is thoughtfully designed with ecology at the centre," featuring crisp, minimal furniture to ensure a sense of calm.

From personalized treatments like Sarvanga Abhyanga and Shirodhara to a farm-to-table concept that "ensures each meal soothes your soul," the article captures the essence of our guided wellness program.

Read the full feature on Hindustan Times

Health as a Way of Being

स्वस्थ (Swasth): To be situated in one’s own self.

On World Health Day, we often talk about health in terms of what is missing. The absence of pain, the absence of fever, or the absence of disease. But at Raga Svara, we look at it differently.

For us, being स्वस्थ is about presence. It is the feeling of being completely at home within yourself. It is a simple, quiet state where your body, mind, and spirit aren't pulling in different directions, but are finally walking together.

Finding Your Center

Modern life is loud. We are often caught in a rush, moving further away from our natural rhythm. This clutter makes it hard to hear what our bodies are actually telling us.

We believe that being healthy shouldn't be a chore or a list of difficult goals. It is about returning to a sense of balance that is already there. It is about:

Listening to the body instead of just pushing it.

Settling the mind instead of just filling it.

Connecting with yourself instead of just reacting to the world.

A Simple Invitation

Today, we invite you to move past the idea of just staying fit. Instead, try to be centered. Take a moment to slow down and notice the space between your thoughts.

Health is not a destination you reach, it is the harmony you live in every day. We invite you to join us in this journey of rediscovering your true nature, a state of being that is calm, steady, and whole.

Shivalee Chatarji at Raga Svara

Shivalee Chatarji’s 3-Day Immersion in Heart Rest & Shanti

Yoga Teacher & Pranayama Coach

The Practice

A beautiful morning yoga practice followed by a hearty breakfast, nourishing the body before the day begins.

The Connection

Finding resonance in lovely conversations with fellow traveler Ionna, the unexpected joy of

Raga Svara

Shivalee Chatarji’s 3-Day Immersion in Heart Rest & Shanti

Yoga Teacher & Pranayama Coach

The Practice

A beautiful morning yoga practice followed by a hearty breakfast, nourishing the body before the day begins.

The Connection

Finding resonance in lovely conversations with fellow traveler Ionna, the unexpected joy of shared stillness.

The Harvest

A grounding afternoon in the gardens, plucking fresh vegetables for a lunch that truly tastes of the land.

The Stillness

Quiet afternoons by the pool and the rhythmic, deep relaxation of a first Abhyanga massage.

A weekend at Raga Svara in Rajkot where the teacher finally found the space to be the student of her own healing.

Raga Svara at ITB Berlin 2026

Every year in March, the world of international tourism gathers at the world's largest travel trade show. The ITB Berlin Convention 2026 recently concluded, leaving the global travel industry with a clear mission of Leading Tourism into Balance. As visionary leaders gathered to discuss the future of travel, Raga Svara was there to contribute to the conversation on what true balance looks like in a modern world.

During the convention, our co-founders, Mohit Patel and Nirav Talaviya, engaged with stakeholders of the travel and tourism industry about how Raga Svara is bringing ancient wisdom into the present day.

At Raga Svara, our focus has always been on making wellness accessible. As our co-founder Mohit Patel shared during his interview, we take the ancient Indian pillars of Ayurveda and Yoga and translate them into a modern context.

This philosophy is woven into everything we do from our architecture to our daily programming. Raga Svara is also for the modern traveller, people who may not be sick in a clinical sense, but who are seeking a way to get away from the frantic pace of busy life and find their Centre again.

One of the key themes at ITB this year was environmental responsibility, a principle that is also part of how our retreat was developed. Mohit Patel explained that the campus was designed to work with the natural landscape. The buildings were planned around existing trees, and none were cut down during construction. We also focus on seasonal food and grow part of our produce on campus to stay aligned with nature.

The core message our co-founder shared at ITB Berlin was a simple yet vital reminder, ‘Don’t wait until you fall sick.’ In today’s fast-moving world, taking time for a retreat is a proactive way to restore balance. It allows people to pause, listen to their bodies, and focus on their well-being before health concerns arise.

Reflecting on our time at ITB Berlin 2026, we remain committed to supporting a more balanced and responsible future for travel.

After a year of curating retreats for others, Nishtha chose Raga Svara for her own intentional retreat, finding the space to finally slow down, rest, and connect within.

During her stay, Nishtha experienced our Healthy Ageing retreat, immersing herself in a rhythm of holistic vitality, Ayurvedic treatments, and mindful leisure. She found the cuisine to be both healthy and delicious, a perfect complement to a journey where food becomes medicine. It was wonderful to see her find a ‘gem of a find’ in our campus, where the transition from teacher to student felt effortless. We are so glad Raga Svara could be the space where she recalibrated for the year ahead.

Sunaina Rekhi at Raga Svara

We were delighted to recently host the well-known Yogini and lifestyle guide, Sunaina Rekhi. At Raga Svara, we believe that for a teacher to keep giving, they first need a space to receive. Sunaina spent her days practising yoga in our green gardens and finding a deep, grounded silence in our meditation hall. It was wonderful to see someone so dedicated to wellness find a true sense of ease within our architecture.

Beyond the practice, Sunaina embraced the full Raga experience, from the healing ritual of Ayurvedic treatments like Abhyanga to the simple joy of slowing down with her mother. She reminded us that true wellness isn't just a routine, it’s about finding a space where you can finally let go. We are so glad Raga Svara could be that space for her.
